Top Ten Reasons to Stay in Bed!

I'm not a lazy person. No wait let me clarify. I AM a lazy person who has spent her life overcoming natural tendencies. But today, I declare a moratorium on productivity. Like during the ice storm that never came this winter, I need to hunker down and recreate, repair, refresh, and a whole bunch of other res that I could think of if given a chance.

So here are my top ten reasons to drag my tail and leave my head on the pillow as long as possible:

#10 - The ground hog is doing it.

#9 - The Kardashians moved to Dallas and I'm avoiding their calls.

#8 - If I get up I have to teach. If I have to teach I have to grade. If I have to grade I have to fuss. I'm a nice mommy and I don't want to fuss.

#7 - It's cold out there.

#6 - I can diet better if I sleep when I'm hungry.

#5 - Getting up means putting my feet on the floor - refer to #7.

#4 - Stay-at-home-moms deserve a holiday. I choose this one, please.

#3 - Today is Jules Verne's birthday. To celebrate, I'm going to dive deeper into my pillows. (Get it? 25k Leagues Under the Sea author? Yea, I think I need to snooze to reboot after that one.)

#2 - It's also National Kite-Flying day. Think I'll dream about that, or maybe Mary Poppins.

#1 - I'm a writer. I'm not sleeping. I'm having a consultation with the people in my head!

In all honesty, I am dragging today, but it's because of this mean old cough that won't let me go. But thankfully, I'm a writer, so I don't have to call in sick or worry about spreading germs in my work place. And I stay in the comfort of my room with my trusty vaporizer chugging away and lay my head on my pillow anytime it suits me.

This is the life!

I reported on Sunday that I finished the rewrite of my romantic suspense, Cat's Eyes. I'm still taking it through some polishings, switching words and inconsistencies, but it is almost set. Meanwhile, I've finished a script for a friend of mine and am poised to start writing my next romantic suspense. This one doesn't have a name yet, but I'm toying with a few and am getting excited about the way the stories and the characters are starting to take shape.

As for my other goals, I've been lousy at exercise, but I've been more active online. I'm hoping to effectively connect with folks instead of getting distracted and time wasting. So hard to do when I'm online! While I've added items to my schedule, I'm still maintaining the balance that I found and want to keep.

Now for a nap!

Oh and what other reasons can you give me for staying in bed! I could use all the help I can get!

    1. I'm actually sorting things out with a recorder for the next story - from bed of course!

  2. I really love #6. Also, I did just read something about burning calories while sleeping. So, exercise and diet from bed! I'm in. But I'm already up. Another reason? The bears are still sleeping, why can't I?

  4. #5 had me in fits of giggles (with its referral to #7 of course); but #1 took it all away to having many lol moments. :D

Despite how you are feeling (we all have one of those days -today's that day for me too.), you have achieved a lot; well done! Keep the good work.

  5. Number 1 is my favorite. I love the idea that the characters in my head deserve the respect of having a conversation with me. I needed your encouragement today. Thanks.

    1. I agree. And I think we all need a bit of extra time in bed to consult with them. lol.

Hope you get to feeling better. You could always take your laptop to bed, but it's hard to write when your head is all fuzzy and stuffy. Just rest.

  6. I have another reason for you to stay in bed. Because you can! LOL

Congrats for almost having Cat's Eyes done! Any idea on the publishing date?

  7. Sounds like you are doing just fine. Everyone deserves a sleep-in day (or two). It's hard to stay motivated when it's chilly out. That makes it so much easier to pull up the blankets and simply ponder on WIPs.

  8. I'm sorry you've been sick, Marji. I hope you send that pesky bug packing soon.

I wish you the best as you prepare to begin your next story.

    1. Thanks, Keli. I've got a dinky twinky down, too, laying next to me. It's gonna be one of those mommy-daughter - hack, hack - bonding days!

  9. Yesterday, I had a day off. It snowed, and I spent most of the day in bed. I've been under the weather with that same cough from my chest that won't let go, that you have. I spent the day writing on my laptop, I napped, I watched movies, I wrote out bills, I napped again...

    It was a wonderful day!

    1. So sorry to hear your sick, but sometimes it takes that to stop us, doesn't it? I'm glad you had a good day despite the bug!
